For this first month I am doing 3 days of cardio and 2 days of lifting. I am just waking up the muscles and getting into the habit. Both plans need a little tweaking from the original website so as I do them I feel my way through what I want to add. I have a hurt-so-good felling right now and waddle like I am 9 months preggo again, but that will pass soon!
It feels good to be getting back into the habit, it really does!

Needless to say the MVDD lasted only one week. I have been able to keep that weight off though with normal (and sometimes splurging) eating. I may very well try to detox again after the next kid. Right now, I am focusing on eating balanced, healthy meals, enjoying a treat hear and there, drinking lots of water and getting to the gym on a regular basis.

Day 10
181.5 (down 7lbs)
Struggling now. Still drank the Acai juice this morning and still wanted to hurl. Rob is encouraging me to keep on trucking with the juice. After all, it is only for another 11 days and it does pass within the hour. We will play it by ear I guess.
I neglected to make or eat any soup last night so today I am extra hungry and really looking forward to my salad today. I will eat that at noon to ensure I drink my live juice at 2ish. I'm toying with altering my dinners to a salad/soup as well but need to see how the scale reads for the next few days of adding in lunch before I go there. That means I need to hit the gym after work AND the store in order to have some veggies for my soup tonight. We are all out at home.
What's killing me is that I have pizza on my mind! Rob is going out of town this weekend and I normally spurlge (or more acturately binge) on something yummy and very bad for me such as pizza, fast food, chinese or ice cream. I have grown to detest chinese take-out (we make much better stir-fry at home!) so that leaves fast food, pizza and ice cream.
Fast food is off the list...I cannot go there anymore and haven't for a very very long time.
Now I'm down to pizza and ice cream. For some reason my mind is on the pizza. I need to get past that before Saturday so that I do not indulge. The cravings usually pass with time but this one is rather difficult right now for some reason. grrrr!

Day 9
182.5 (down 6.5lbs)
I'm adjusting this to better fit my mindset and mental state. I need to take the Acai out of my day...who the heck wants to wake up and feel like crap every darn morning! I don't think my mornings were this bad during my first trimester with Beata! I will continue to try to stick it out but no promises bleh!
I also added a salad into my day today. I was just way too constipated last week and it was actually causing me pain so I need to adjust as my body demands. My salad was made of only veggies that I would normally juice together and of course no dressing. The place I went to makes the HUGE salad that I used to be able to polish off. Today, I ate maybe 1/8 or 1/4 of it. I was sure to chew chew chew chew to as fine a mush as possible before swallowing. I tucked the rest into the fridge and will nibble at it tomorrow for lunch. This will hopefully help to keep me more regular without messing with the detox side of things too much. I will continue to drink my soups for dinner as I believe the lighter fair at night is key.
I made a huge live juice last night for lunch today but will tuck that away to compliment my salad tomorrow or perhaps drink after the gym today instead of a green drink...hmmm decisions decisions. If I had eaten my salad at noon as I had intented I would have had the juice at 2 but my entire day seems to be way off. Oh well, moving on. Hitting the gym for 30-45 min of cardio!

Day 8
163 (down 6lbs)
Really? Even after my faulty weekend? I guess if I really thought about it, I GAINED two pounds. I would have lost weight over the weekend had I stuck to the detox but instead I went up one half. Maybe I won't eat this next weekend afterall...
I took my measurements. This is the great part - I lost 5 INCHES overall! My upper waist went down 1/2 inch and the larger part at my belly button level went down one whole inch! I lost 1 1/2 inches on my upper thigh! yeah!!! Other areas such as chest, hips, and lower thigh went down about 1/2 inch on average. Wonder how much more I can get off this week???
I'm back on track today. No live juice for lunch so I'll have my vegesplash. I have my second colonic today at 4 and am hoping that the softner will help to clear the debris even more. The Acai juice is still HORRIBLE! I gave some to my mom and cousin to try out for the energy benefit that I do get from it. My poor cousin almost hurled too! It just sends this weird signal to the body once the stomach acids get ahold of it and you literally feel the need to stand over the trash and wait for the erruption...but somehow it never comes. I drink tons of water to flush it out and I feel 100% shortly after. Very weird...

Days 6 and 7
163.5
163
oops...Didn't make it through the weekend.
I did really well until dinner time on Saturday. I was hosting Easter dinner at our place so had spent the day preparing Waldorf salad, fruit covered angle food cake, collard greens, herbed cornbread (from cookinglight.com), baked sweet potatoes, mint green peas and organic turkey. At dinner time I decided I would join my family. I did farely well considering I hadn't eaten for 5 days. I timed dinner so that I would have to feed my daughter simultaneously which meant I had less time and no free hands to really eat much. I nibbled at a little bit of the turkey, had mostly green peas, 1/2 a sweet potato and a small slice of the cornbread. I skipped the greens since I eat them all week long now! I also made it a point to chew chew chew chew.
The good news, this finally kicked my digestive system into gear and I was finally able to go to the bathroom...although it was difficult and not satisfying. The bad knews was I ate chocolate on Sunday. I slept in (till 9am) took a hot bath with epson salt and had one green drink. Lunch was an organic fat free yogurt. Dinner was ha large handful of hershey kisses and such. bad bad bad bad! Oh, I also was desperate enough to drink a 'get regular' tea and take some stool softners. WTH is going on in there? I'm ingesting all sorts of digestive enzymes, inner cleanses, green drinks and cannot go to the bathroom! Finally the tea kicked in late afternoon and I found some relief. I'm curious to see how this next week goes.
I'm also thinking I will have another dinner on the weekend that I can actually chew. Time will tell.

Day 5
182.5 (6.5lbs lost!!!)
Man I needed that this morning. I swear, if I had not lost anything I would have totally cheated over the weekend. I got up feeling hungry but didn't drink the acai juice until I was done getting ready for work. I did a quick shot, rinsed it down with water and proceeded to pack up the kid for daycare. Then....I didn't feel so well. I had to sit down and close my eyes. I really felt as though I was going to vomit. My tummy was doing weird things as well. I really think my body just does NOT like acai berries! I went to the potty to try to go but still can barely 'go' since the colonic on Monday. I hope I didn't mess something up in there! The program says to do coffee enemas at home on day 3 and I plan to skip those but this made me second guess that. Since I'm not getting fiber and hardly taking any foods in, my body is not expelling those toxins quick enough.
I had planned on doing cardio and a sauna after work but left the bag at home while struggling with the nausea. Thank goodness, after guzzling tons of water, I felt much better. Back on track!
I had my green drinks, live juice and vegesplash today. I try to alternate that afternoon drink. Yesterday was berrysplash. Today since I had grapes in my live juice I am had the vegesplash.
I caught up with my mom, popped the kid in her stroller and we went for a nice long walk after work. I was running late at that point so hubby started my soup for me - yummy green/white soup. Lots of leftovers for the weekend!

Day 4
185.5 (net 3.5lbs grrr)
I have noticed a little drainage in the sinuses going on. Could be the pollen, could be the detox. No big deal either way. My head does feel a little foggy and my memory is shot. On top of losing my iPod yesterday I have gone to work without my shaker bottle. Talk about making life difficult! Luckily I had a regular water bottle on me and used that while guestimating the actual amount of water.
It worked pretty well surprisingly at mixing my drinks. I guzzled my green drink before dashing of to a meeting. Which, by the way was pure torture! We had delicious looking yogurts, fruit, bagels and muffins spread out. Then someone in the next room toasted a cinnamon raisen toast/bagel. God that smell was killing me. I just love the smell of toast for some reason!!! Oh, and another shot of Acai juice this morning. No Stevia and no gagging. My scrunchy face was only a breif second and I was out the door.
Thank goodness I have gotten used to the tastes (and aftertastes) of these darn things! Dinner was Italian Bean Soup...tasted like the last two soups but it was still good. I made a huge pot so Rob had dinner as well. I also prepared my live juice for day 5. This one was a hodge-podge of collard greens, green beans, zucchini, broccoli, ginger, carrots, spinach and a handful of green grapes.
I had some errands to run so the only workout I got was walking through the store and playing with Beata.
4 days down, 17 to go!

Day 3
185 (down 4lbs)
Didn't sleep as soundly as I had hoped but I did wake up very alert. So alert that I could not snooze during the alarm snooze function. Sigh...might as well get up right? I did a quick body brush before jumping in the shower. Same old routine with preparing for work, chatting with hubby and kissing my little girl every time I pass her. She just sits up on our bed playing with toys and watching the chaos every morning.
I did a quick shot of the acai - this time with a tiny dash of stevie. Getting better at this! The green drink is getting much better as well. I can't use a blender at work so I have a shaker bottle with a whisk ball inside. I found that if I shake it up good with some cold water, then let it set for a while to dissolve any chuncks, then shake it up really good again, I can drink with very easily. I was so proud of myself on adapting.
Lunch was another live juice I made last night: 3 carrots/4 large collard green leaves/1 quarter beet/2 small handfuls of green grapes. The grapes were an add-in on my part. Probably messes with the balance but certainly helped the taste!
I had a great suggestion from a fellow mvdd to HEAT the VegeSplash so it was more like tomato soup - what a great idea! Totally helps the brain to click. Although it took me a lot longer to get down. Not a bad thing normall but I was on a schedule and needed to hit the gym before picking up my daughter, feeding her and then picking up my husband. Not enough hours in the day!
I left work just before 3 with my ice-cold green drink in the bag for later. I did a pretty solid upper body workout (UBWO) and 15 min on this precor machine that was kinda like stepping but kinda like running...not sure what the heck it was but it definitely got my heartrate up there! Of course, in my rush I have lost my damn iPod. As such, I have lost my faith in humanity. I've posted a sign in the locker room but I doubt whomever picked it up with return it. sigh...couldn't even hang on to it for an entire year!
Dinner was leftover Curried Vegetable soup. I did notice that my stomach growled a few times throughout the day but I never felt uncomfortable or like my sugar was plumeting.
All set for Day 4 - made a live juice of baby carrots/kale/baby spinach/ginger/garlic/beet/broccoli/lime. Basically I take a bowl to the fridge and start grabbing veggies. I make sure the bowl is majority green and slide on over to the juicer. I take a taste test and make adjustments as needed. That goes in a little travel cup for lunch the next day. Fantastic!
I headed to bed around 9:30 so poor Rob could eat some more food. He is so good about NOT eating in front of me at night - god I love him ;-)

DAY 2
187 (down 2lbs)
Waking up was nothing special. I fell asleep like I normally do and I woke up like I normally do. That would mean that I set an alarm for 5am for the gym, get up to turn it off and go back to bed. Then my 6am alarm goes off for work and I hit snooze until 6:30 or Beata has started to fuss - whichever comes first. I then nudge Rob to get her a bottle and I lay there convincing myself to get up and into the shower. Then my morning begins...
This morning was the acai drink straight from the bottle. Still nasty but at least it was a lesser quantity so I didn't draw out the process. I was also surpised at how much easier it was getting the green drink down. Don't get me wrong, it was still nasty, but at least I wasn't gagging as much! Lunch was my live juice of cucumbers/carrots/ginger/broccoli. Later I had the VegeSplash (much colder but still salty) and another green drink.
The evening was quite hectic but I still stayed true. I left work at 3 and headed straight to the gym for 30 min of cardio on the Precor. I left Beata with my parents because we had a viewing to get to and I still needed to make a soup. There was no way I could swing all that and feed the kid before picking Rob up at the metro. Besides, my mom is on vacation so she picked Beata up early to spend some time with her.
Dinner was Curried Vegetable Soup: (note to self, use more water)
1 qt. water or veggie stock
1 cup carrots, chopped
1 cup mixed greens, chopped
1 cup yellow zucchini, chopped
1 cup green beans, chopped
1 green onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic
1 tsp. curry powder
1 tsp. turmeric powder1 tsp. (of each) ground cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and cayenne powder mixed together
I used extra veggies but neglected to add enough water so my puree was pretty thick. I pureed my serving and put it in my travel mug (which I absolutely love btw) and grabbed another travel mug for Rob. His serving was the whole vegetables with some broth. I drank mine while driving and waiting at the metro and he gobbled his down on the way to the viewing.
By the time we picked Beata up and got home it was close to 9pm. I was not hungry and am very pleased with that. I took my supplements, drank some water and headed to bed. I needed to get out of there before Rob started snacking. Poor guy...I could smell toast in the oven and thought I would strangle him. I didn't mind him eating a salad in front of me - that has no scent - but the toast? grrr
Overall a very successful day. Who says you can't eat healthy and have a busy life???

Day 1
189lbs
bleh bleh and more bleh
I've got a few posts to some other MVDD folks at http://marthasvineyarddetoxdiet.ning.com/profile/Chell
I stared the day with AcaiSplash. It made me feel like I was going to vomit.

Next was Maximum Greens: I couldn't even finish this one but I certainly tried!
"Lunch" was VegeSplash: I was actually able to drink ALMOST every last drop of this one. It tasted like a very very salty (warm) tomato. I must use colder water next time!

I've been able to drink plenty of water - mostly to wash the taste away - and have made several trips to the bathroom to pee. I drink another vegesplash at 2 and a green drink at 4. I'm also taking digestive enzymes and inner cleanse capsules throughout the day. Not sure how I feel about those but I'm giving this 100% of my effort before I judge the results.
I have tried a few teas today but no luck in that department either. The green tea was about to come back up and I had barely touched it. I'll keep trying some other options but not too pressed. I was never a big coffee drinker and I do enjoy plain unflavored water so I am perfectly content with sipping water all day as usual.
On the plus side, I am not hungry and the only thing I feel like I am craving, aside from some saltines for the bile, is some fresh veggies. I am looking forward to my soup puree tonight. We stocked up on a ton of beautiful vegetables yesterday and they are just begging to be used.
I had my first colonic after work. Not at all what I expected. Everything I had heard and read had mentioned a Y shaped tube, lying on yoru side and a hydrotherapist administering it. Instead, I had a reclined chair contraption and the only administering she did was come in to turn the water on and then off. I also had expected a lot more cleaning to take place but the water was mostly clear with a few nuggets. (Sorry for the TMI!) The tech said I was most likely constipated. I'll stick with it for the 4 week cycle but I really hope to see more results next week.
I had Asian Spinach soup for dinner. OMG I loved it! I really enjoyed it pureed. I gave my husband the other half of the soup (unpureed) and he really enjoyed it as well. I also made my first live juice - carrots, ginger, cucumber and broccoli - yummy! Hubby snagged the pulp from the bin and ate that for dessert with some oil/vinegar on it. Nothing going to waste in our house! He is such a fabulously supportive man. He will lose weight on the sidelines simply by eating soups with me and promising not to snack in front home me ;-)

bleh bleh and more bleh

We stocked up on a ton of beautiful vegetables yesterday and they are just begging to be used.

blah blah blah blah blah you and I both know the drill right now.
Beata turned 7 months last week and I am still 15 pounds over my PP weight. The past few weeks I have been eating very healthy and it is showing. I had been struggling around 196 for many weeks and am now down to 189. Rob and I are discussing our next baby and arranging a trip to Poland around it so time is everything right now. Of course, we need to evaluate cost of daycare vs. my salary. $375/WEEK is a heck of a lot of money (about $20k annual). But, I do make a lot more than that plus have benefits so I guess I will have to come back yet again...sigh.
So, to get my body back in check and create a clean slate for baby number 2, I've decided to do a 21 day detox. It is NOT a fast. I will be drinking soooo many vegetables and fruits that I may grow roots of my own! I am begining on Apr 6th. The detox will end and I will need about 9 days to gradually introduce solids to my system. This may sound weird, but it all makes perfect sense to me from being around Beata. I'll basically be eating like a 6 month old - minus the formula, of course. I will be getting protein from protein shakes so I hope what little muscle I have will not melt away. I will continue to go to the gym...or should I say, I will go to the gym even more frequently to assist with the detox. I want to keep my heartrate up and blood flowing to get those toxins out.
I have also spoken to a colon hydrotherapist and will incorporate them into the detox for a 4 session full cleaning. (TMI, I know)
I plan to blog daily just to keep me focused and follow my progress. It will be a good release for me as I have read that there is a stage of misery as your body is releasing a flood of toxins. Good thing my husband is so supportive!

Jan 6
steel cut oats/raisins/apples
1/2c coffee with FV creamer
chicken/pears/rice/zucchini/red beans/blue cheese
apple
4 pretzel rods
banana
turkey/stuffing/zucchini
fiber one bar/milk
I got rid of the juice at night and replaced it with milk. The next step is to remove the fiber one bar and the pretzel rods. After reading the ingredients, that should be a lot easier now.
Dinner was a little carb heavy but I'm okay with that for now. I'm just trying to get into the swing of things this week.
I did another 30 min on the precor after work. This time I increased the intensity a little bit. One day at a time...

Happy New Year!
Jan 5 meals
egg and 1 slice ww high fiber toast
banana
EFL enchiladas
steel cut oats/raisins/apples
RTD shake
2 prtezle rods
Chicken/blue cheese/wild rice/red beans/zucchini
fiber one bar
banana
cranberry-blueberry juice
30 min of level one on the precor
It may not be much but it is a start!!! To top it off, I resisted the ledge full of chocolates and holiday treats that someone set out right between my desk and my nursing room. How rude! I had the catering staff move it to the kitchen on the other side of the building. After all, will power is only as strong as your ability to plan.
